VALUE TO STUDENTS
InSITE provides an incredibly rich experience for graduate students interested in careers in entrepreneurship or venture capital.  Through weekly hands-on real-world interaction with entrepreneurs and VC's, Fellows learn about the industry, build experience working on startup and venture finance issues, and build high-power networks.  The selective nature of the program elevates the strength of the networks built at InSITE.

"InSITE is an exciting program that benefits students, entrepreneurs, and investors. I have found the participants to be extremely productive in their efforts to support new ventures. I think InSITE is an important element in the continued growth of new businesses in the New York area."
Jason Wright, Senior Associate  APAX Partners

Company Mentoring
The key service provided by InSITE fellows in the New York entrepreneurial business community is the process of company mentoring.  Five or six teams of five or six fellows are assigned to a company each semester. Through a series of five scheduled meetings, fellows help each company through a predefined schedule of services to prepare them for the forthcoming Pitch event, wherein the companies present their business to a community of potential investors.

Each company team will include a mix of both first and second year Fellows.  This gives first years a good opportunity to benefit from the acquired experience of the second-year members. Each team will also include at least one law student, in order to provide a legal perspective on the companies' strategic decisions moving forward.

Teams are assigned through a preference voting method. Fellows are asked to identify their preferences after seeing each of nine to ten brief business presentations. Teams are assigned in an attempt to give each fellow their first or second choice of company.

During the semester, fellows gain significant intellectual benefit from participation in the teams. The mentoring program provides insights into both the investment business as well as the entrepreneurial process.

VC Affiliate Program
InSITE's Venture Capital Affiliate Program was established in 2001 to strengthen our relationships with the New York venture community. VCs who take part in the program commit one to two hours to meet with a group of six InSITE Fellows to discuss the VC's views on the current business environment, key skills that they should seek to develop while still at Business School, the changing landscape of venture capitalism, and areas of investment activity that are on the horizon. Fellows also use the opportunity to discuss the merits of the company they are mentoring and get VC feedback on the opportunity.

VC Internship Program
Launched in 2002, the VC Internship Program adds value to InSITE fellows looking to build experience and relationships within the venture capital community. The program is designed to give participating fellows the opportunity to intern with Venture Capital firms on a part-time basis until the end of the Spring Semester.
Even though the program targets participation from InSITE fellows in their first year looking to secure summer internships within the venture capital community, the program also benefits second-year participants looking to secure full-time positions upon graduation. Fellows are invited to participate by including their résumés in a book presented to the venture capital community at the conclusion of the fall semester.

The program is designed to offer a student's time on Fridays through the spring semester. Fellows provide their services at no charge to the VC firm, giving the hiring firm not only the opportunity to benefit from the additional intellectual capital, but also the opportunity to build a relationship with the student prior to making any further employment commitments.
